Singing Through History! Folk Music Programs

For over a decade Adam Miller has captured the imagination of students at schools and public libraries all over the United States with his highly entertaining, multi-cultural “Singing Through History” folk music programs.

These acclaimed programs conform to state History, Social Science, and Visual and Performing Arts Frameworks,
addressing curriculum and subjects students are already studying in the classroom.
All “Singing Through History” programs aid
in the development of cultural and historical literacy, emphasizing the importance of history as a story well told.
Students have a great time learning about American folklore and folk traditions while singing along.
With over a dozen entertaining and educational assembly programs,
Adam can perform two different 45-60 minute assemblies in a back-to-back booking with no audience maximum.
All programs are designed to encourage group singing and interactivity, and are tailored to be age appropriate
for any combination of grades or ages.
From his repertoire of over 2,500 folksongs, Adam selects age-appropriate songs that appeal to children, and presents them in a way that helps students realize
that they, the young people of today, are not very different from the young people of past generations. These meaningful and enjoyable songs also help children locate
their own place in the long stream of cultural tradition,
and emphasize that America's culture has diverse ethnic roots.
Classroom and After-School Programs are particularly effective, as the smaller audience, intimate setting and informal atmosphere encourages increased student interaction, questions and answers, and laughter. (65 student maximum)

| Singing Through History! SCHOOL Residency – Grades 1-6 |
 Adam’s inspiring and entertaining “Singing Through History” folksong residency for primary and intermediate students is a highly effective vehicle for building morale and fostering a feeling of community.
What is a folksong? What makes a song a folksong? Where do folksongs come from? What is the “folk process?”
This five-day, multi-cultural program introduces students to group singing, American folk music traditions, history, social studies, geography, vocabulary, cooperation, and performing, The program culminates in a Friday performance in which parents, staff and students sing together.

FOLK MUSIC PROGRAMS FOR PUBLIC LIBRARIES – All Ages

For over a decade Adam Miller has captured the imagination of students at schools and public libraries all over the United States with his highly entertaining, multi-cultural "Singing Through History” folk music programs.
 Each year Adam performs in over 100 public libraries across the United States. His programs help youngsters develop active listening skills, and foster a lifelong love of literature, reading and listening to stories. Many of traditional American folksongs and folktales Adam uses in his programs can be found in books that reside in many public libraries. His family-oriented concerts are as enjoyable for children as they are for parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.
